Bureau of Lost Causes, ongoing
Bureau of Lost Causes is a project that explores and maps loss in its various forms. It aims to recognise the complexity of loss both in the context of art and in personal narratives, and to foster connections through the sharing of stories.
When the installation is activated, visitors are invited to join in a conversation and share their personal experiences of loss. These conversations are recorded using a typewriter and archived on a long roll of paper. The result is a living document that collects individual stories of loss. The installation also houses a collection of books on the subject of loss and two Rolodexes. It is a space in which the diverse experiences of loss are explored, with the primary aim of creating a space that prioritises connection, empathy and reflection.
